Brief Job Description

We are currently seeking an experienced System Administrator to join our team. The System Administrator must have a deep and broad knowledge of computer software, hardware and networks. S/He will mainly be responsible for monitoring key systems and processes.in a high availability environment

 

 Duties/Responsibilities

  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups and file deliveries.
  • Develop, maintain, and monitor procedures for all server backups
  • Perform on-site and remote technical support
  • Assist in the organization and inventory of all hardware and software resources
  • Maintain excellent communication with the IT Network Operations Director on all tasks and projects
  • Create and maintain technical documentation
  • Provide emergency on-call support on a rotating schedule.
  • Escalating critical issues to senior system administrators
  • Any other tasks as assigned

Job Requirements

Qualifications (skills/experience)

  • AEC + Four or more years of systems/network experience is required
  • 3-4 years of experience with Linux operating systems
  • 3-4 years of experience with Windows Server platforms with an emphasis on Active Directory
  • Solid knowledge of LAN/WAN configurations to include experience with Cisco routers & switches, and Checkpoint firewalls
  • Basic Windows PowerShell scripting skills
  • Experience setting up and managing database systems such as SQL Server
  • Advanced hardware & software troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work in a high availability environment. Maintains quality customer service skills, a strong work ethic, and is a team player with the ability to work well independently
  • Must possess above average organization skills, excellent communication skills, and can demonstrate problem solving skills. Considered an out of the box thinker and displays a willingness to learn

 Working Language

  • English (written and spoken) is the language used 99% of the time, as work colleagues and the clientele are both geographically dispersed within and outside of Quebec.
  • Internal communications between colleagues occur in English or in French, depending on the parties involved. Strategic suppliers are located outside of Quebec.
  • A basic knowledge of French is required for any position located within Quebec. English is required for this position, as it would report to someone outside of Quebec, and requires frequent out of province communications
